Day02 SUN or THU. GUATEMALA-CHICHICASTENANGO: 

In the morning you will depart for the picturesque town of Chichicastenango. One of the main reasons for a trip to Chichicastenango is to participate in the market, which is held only twice a week and deserves its fame. You will also see the Church of Santo Tomas where the Mayan Quiche indigenous observe unique religious and spiritual customs and experience their 9 sacred sites. Overnight at Hotel Maya Inn. (AB)

Day 03 MON or FRI. CHICHICASTENANGO-SOLOLA-ATITLAN: 

Morning depart for Solola to visit one of the major market centers. The market is filled with indigenous people -with very colorful and distinctive dresses-who have journeyed from all over the area to sell and buy produce. In the afternoon continue to Panajachel for overnight at Hotel Del Lago, located on the shores of Lake Atitlan.(AB)

Day 4 TUE or SAT. ATITLAN-ANTIGUA: 

Morning motor-launch trip on Lake Atitlan - "one of the most beautiful lakes in the world". with its 3 volcanoes in the background -San Pedro, Toliman and Atitlan. You will visit one of the twelve interesting indigenous lake shore villages. Their inhabitants are for the most part descendants of the Cakchiquel and Tzutil Indians. Mid-day continue to the old Capital of Guatemala "Antigua". Overnight at Hotel Casa Santo Domingo or Camino Real Antigua.(AB)

Day 05 WED or SUN. –ANTIGUA-GUATEMALA

Morning guided tour of Antigua, which is a national monument of the Americas. A very pleasant city of cobble stones streets, houses and mansions with colonial-style facades and tile roofs. Your tour guide will take you to visit churches, convents, monasteries and other colonial buildings. Afternoon return to Guatemala City for overnight at Hotel Barcelo. (AB)

Day 06 THU or MON. GUATEMALA-TIKAL: 

Today you will go back more than 2,000 years in time when you visit the Tikal National Park. Early morning you will be picked up at your hotel for transfer to the airport to board the flight to Flores, Petén . On arrival, our representative will take you to the Mayan City of Tikal which is located in the center of the National Park that bears its name, and has an extension of 222 square miles. Tikal was inhabited from 600 BC., till 869 AD. Its highlight was between 690 till 850 AD., a time period known by archaeologists as the Late Classic. Visit the Twin-Pyramid Complexes “Q” and “R”, Lost World Complex where the Great Pyramid and Temple 5C-49 are the most important. Also, visit Temple III and the Palace of the Windows, the Great Plaza, squared off with the pyramids of the Grand Jaguar and the Masks, the Palace of the Nobles, and Pyramid IV. This one is the highest of the Mayan pyramids, from its top a complete view of Tikal and its surrounding jungle can be enjoyed. In the afternoon transfer to Santa Elena’s Airport to board the flight to Guatemala City. On arrival, our representative will transfer you to Hotel Barcelo Guatemala. (AB,L)

Day 07 FRI or TUE. GUATEMALA: 

Morning sightseeing tour of the Capital city, visiting the most important sites of old and new Guatemala City. You will see the Parque Central, Cathedral, modern Civic Center, shopping and residential areas, and a stop at Minerva Park to view the giant scaled relief map of Guatemala.

Early morning departure from Guatemala City for a drive through the eastern portion of Guatemala , via the departments of El Progreso and Zacapa to arrive at the border with Honduras. Upon completion of immigration formalities, continue to the site of Copan, one of the most fascinating Mayan archaeological sites. DAY 06 SAT. HUEHUETENANGO-CHICHICASTENANGO

DAY 07 SUN. CHICHICASTENANGO-GUATEMALA CITY

Begin the trip that will take you through El Progreso and Zacapa.  Continue to Copan, Honduras. Here you will visit the archaeological site which contains one of the greatest collection of Mayan sculptures anywhere in Central America. Time to visit the main Plaza, its Temples and the complete Ball Court. Overnight HOTEL POSADA REAL. (B)

DAY 09 TUE. COPAN-PUERTO BARRIOS
After breakfast return to Guatemalan territory to continue to Quirigua, where you will find 12 carved stelaes, 4 enormous carved stones of mythological forms and unrestored temples. DAY 10 WED. PUERTO BARRIOS-RIO DULCE

Day 08 Mon. GUATEMALA-TIKAL: 
Today you will go back more than 2,000 years in time when you visit the Tikal National Park. Early morning you will be picked up at your hotel for transfer to the airport to board the flight to Flores, Petén . On arrival, our representative will take you to the Mayan City of Tikal which is located in the center of the National Park that bears its name, and has an extension of 222 square miles. Tikal was inhabited from 600 BC., till 869 AD. Its highlight was between 690 till 850 AD., a time period known by archaeologists as the Late Classic. Visit the Twin-Pyramid Complexes “Q” and “R”, Lost World Complex where the Great Pyramid and Temple 5C-49 are the most important. Also, visit Temple III and the Palace of the Windows, the Great Plaza, squared off with the pyramids of the Grand Jaguar and the Masks, the Palace of the Nobles, and Pyramid IV. This one is the highest of the Mayan pyramids, from its top a complete view of Tikal and its surrounding jungle can be enjoyed. Overnight at hotel Camino Real overlooking Lake Peten. (AB,L)

Day 10 Wed. BELIZE-LAMANAI

Full day excursion by car and by boat to explore the remote Mayan site of Lamanai (3,500 years old). Along the way you encounter some howler monkeys. Mid-afternoon return to Belize City. Hotel Biltmore. (L)

Day 11 Thu. BELIZE-XUNANTUNINCH:

DAY 01 SUN. USA-GUATEMALA-FLORES
Arrive in Guatemala and connect with flight to Flores....(Flight from Guatemala to Flores departs at 5.30pm). Arrive in Flores and transfer to hotel Camino Real Tikal. (B)

DAY 02 MON. CEIBAL
At 8:00 a.m., you will be picked up at your hotel for transfer to Ceibal, the Mayan Archaeological site situated in Sayaxché, near the banks of La Pasión River where you can see crocodiles and exotic birds. The Ceibal Stelae is among the finest and best preserved sculptures of the late Classic Period. Because of the hardness of the local stone, which has withstood centuries of rain, root penetration, and falling trees, it is often called the “Maya Art Gallery”. One of its most important structures is a round stone, which is considered very rare in the Mesoamerican area. (B)

DAY 03 TUE. YAXHA
At 8:00 a.m., you will be picked up at your hotel and visit the archaeological site of Yaxhá. The city is contemporary to Tikal, and is located on the northeastern side of the Lake Yaxhá. Over 1,400 monuments have been mapped and an excavation program has been taken place in the last 10 years, exposing some of its magnificent architecture. Also, visit ball courts, residential and religious areas like the Maler Group, North Acropolis recently restored, and finally Temple 216, over 90 feet high. Continue your visit to Topoxté located in seasonal islands, on the western side of Lake Yaxhá. Its buildings are similar to those of Tulúm in Yucatan, and it was inhabited during 900 – 1,200 AD., known as post classic. (B)

DAY 04 WED. TIKAL

DAY 05 THU. FLORES-RIO DULCE-PUERTO BARRIOSTransfer to Rio Dulce, upon arrival joins the launch excursion to the San Felipe Castle, and then continue to Livingston (Port city on the Caribbean Sea at the mouth of Rio Dulce) Cruise along the Rio Dulce in the Izabal district of Guatemala by motor boat and enjoy the view of gorges and canyons, tropical vegetation and abundant wildlife. Just before you reach Livingston by boat, you pass through El Boquerón Canyon, where a sheer cliff face rises 400 feet out of the water as you cut through the mountain. The white limestone cliff is decorated with jungle vines, trees and moss....it is an spectacular view of nature...!  . In the afternoon, continue to Puerto Barrios for overnight accommodations. DAY 06 FRI. PUERTO BARRIOS-QUIRIGUA-COPAN
This morning, transfer to the Mayan site of Quiriguá, where extraordinary monuments include 12 carved stellae, 4 zoomorphs, enormous carved stones of mythological animal forms, and unrestored temples. Dates recorded are at exact intervals of 800 days. In the afternoon, transfer to Copán, Honduras. After completing official immigration formalities, continue to Hotel for overnight accommodations (Hotel Marina Copan or Clarion Copan). (B)

DAY 07 SAT. COPAN-GUATEMALA
In the morning, visit the archaeological site of Copán. As you step inside the park, witness elaborate stone sculptures everywhere. As you walk into the dramatic expanse of the Great Plaza you are witness of the cultural achievements of the ancient Maya. Copán’s main plaza contains the greatest collection of Maya sculptures in Central America. Take time to explore and marvel at the beautiful Mayan stellae, majestic temples, and complete ball court. DAY 02 TUE. GUATEMALA-ANTIGUA
09:00 a.m., you will be picked up at your Hotel for transfer to Antigua Guatemala, the most important and enchanting city of colonial Guatemala. Founded by the Spaniards in 1543, nowadays Antigua is a beautiful blend of ruins, restored colonial buildings, and new buildings in colonial style. It was declared “Monument of America” in 1965. Visit the Central Plaza that is surrounded by the antique Cathedral, the Municipal Government Building, and the Palace of the Captains General; colonial churches and monasteries, primitive foot-looms where colorful textiles are woven, and a jade factory where this stone is worked into beautiful jewelry. DAY 03 WED. ANTIGUA-ATITLAN
In the morning you will be transferred to Lake Atitlán, via Iximché, which dates from the 15th Century and it was the capital of the Cackchiqueles. There was established the first Spanish capital. Lake Atitlán, one of the most beautiful in the world, with its crystalline-azure waters in the crater bowl below. Atitlán is the ideal place to come in contact with Guatemalan folklore. Twelve Indian villages surround the Lake, and their inhabitants are descendants from the great Quiché, Cackchiquel, and Tzutuhil nations. Overnight accommodations at Porta Hotel del Lago. (B)

DAY 04 THU. ATITLAN-QUETZALTENANGO
At 09:00 a.m., you will board the motor launch to cross Lake Atitlán to the picturesque Indian village of Santiago Atitlán, one of the twelve lake-shore villages surrounding the Lake. Enjoy this bustling Indian community, where weavers work the colorful textiles. In the afternoon, transfer to Quetzaltenango. Overnight accommodations at Pension Bonifaz Hotel. (B)

DAY 05 FRI. QUETZALTENANGO-HUEHUETENANGO
This morning you will visit Almolonga market known for its vegetables and fruits cultivated on small parcels and from which products are exported to Central America and Mexico. Continue your visit to San Andrés Xecul which has an important XVI century temple, with a fabulous bright-yellow façade, the color which is representative of the local huipil (or indigenous blouse). There are saints and angels sitting next to corncobs and quetzal birds on the facade. Then you will visit San Francisco El Alto, with its typical market where people gather in front of City Hall to sell their products and handicrafts. In the afternoon, transfer to Huehuetenango. Overnight accommodations at Hotel Premiere. (B)

DAY 06 SAT. HUEHUETENANGO-CHICHICASTENANGO
During the morning visit Todos Santos Cuchumatanes, one of Guatemala´s best-loved tourist destinations, set in a spectacular valley of the Cuchumatanes Mountains. Both the men and women of Todos Santos wear distinctive, handwoven clothing. The men´s clothing includes red and white striped trousers, a colorful shirt, straw hat, and a black capixay, or woolen cape to guard against the chilly mountain climate. DAY 07 SUN. CHICHICASTENANGO-GUATEMALA CITY
Today is market day in Chichicastenango! Visit the most colorful and picturesque Indian open-air market in the country. Hundreds of Indians from the surrounding countryside gather to barter their goods and products. Also, witness the captivating religious ceremonies held on the steps and inside the 400-year old Church of Santo Tomás -No shorts or bathing suits are allowed inside the Church, (PLEASE NO PHOTOGRAPHS INSIDE THE CHURCH). You will also see the 400 year old church of Santo Tomas, where your tour guide will be able to explain why the Mayan Quiche natives observe unique religious customs and spiritual beliefs. After lunch depart for Guatemala City via Lake Atitlan with beautiful views of its 3 volcanoes in the background -San Pedro, Toliman and Atitlan -. Brief stop at the lake-side village of Panajachel.
