DAY 1 ARRIVE
COSTA RICA:
Arrive in San Jose, Capital of Costa Rica. Upon arrival you will
be met and transferred to hotel Park Inn (4 stars)
DAY 2 SAN JOSE-TORTUGUERO: -Transfer
scenic boat ride
Early morning pick up at your Hotel for a scenic 2-hour drive to
the Caribbean, driving through Braulio Carrillo National Park.
Transfer to riverboat for 2-4 hour boat trip up jungle canals to
Tortuguero National Park, a vast tropical rain forest preserve
and one of the best places to observe wildlife in Costa Rica.
Upon arrival to your Lodge a Caribbean style lunch is waiting
for you as an introduction to Costa Rica Caribbean cuisine. At
the afternoon visit Village of Tortuguero where you can see life
style of an isolated piece o land on the CR Caribbean side with
a population of no more than 1500.
The Tortuguero Canals along the Caribbean coast are musts for
nature lovers. You may have the treat of close up looks at
monkeys, crocodiles, tree sloths and a host of colorful birds.
During turtle nesting season (June through September), the
endangered green turtle come up on the beaches at night to lay

DAY 3 JUNGLES OF TORTUGUERO: - AM & PM
Shared excursions
Early morning enjoy two hour boat ride touring the backwater
canals of Tortuguero National Park with a local guide to observe
the flora and fauna. You are likely to glimpse birds of
startling beauty, including toucans and brilliantly colored
parrots. Costa Rica has more than 800 species of birds, more
than all of the United States and Canada combined, and your
guide will help you identify them. Contnue to visit the local

DAY 4 TORTUGUERO-GUAPILES-ARENAL
You’ll be awaken by the sounds of howler monkeys in the forest
behind the Lodge. Then, after a big family style breakfast,
board a boat for transfer to Guapiles -where you private car and
driver will be waiting for you for transfer to the Arenal area
...Beneath
the volcanos steaming peak, the area offers natural beauty,
amazing wildlife and plenty of outdoor activities for visitors
including canyoning, horseback riding, rafting, mountain biking,
zip line tours, canopy bridge walks and a gondola tramway above
the forest. At days end, one can relax in an area resort that
offers soothing thermal waters heated by the volcano

DAY 5 ARENAL: National Park Visit

This 3 hour guided hike in Arenal Volcano National Park brings
you through rainforest and onto the top of a blocky lava flow.
Now cooled and motionless, the flow rises above the surrounding
forest giving visitors a panoramic view of mountains, Arenal
lake and Arenal Volcano. Today it is being covered by vegetation
as the forest reclaims its former territory. During the walk you
may see monkeys, toucans, parrots and other wildlife. Bring:
lightweight clothing, hiking shoes, camera, sunscreen and hat,
insect repellent, a light rain jacket and water. Includes:

DAY 6: ARENAL -Canopy Zip Lining or Danaus Eco Center
AM
Ziplining is the tour everybody must do when coming to Costa
Rica. You will love the personalized attention.You will be given your safety equipment such as a helmet,
harness, and gloves, and receive a thorough safety talk about
the tour. Then, get ready for an experience of a lifetime,
ziplining through the rainforest on a series of zipline cables
that reach up to 845 meters long!
During the tour, you will have amazing views of the surrounding
mountains, rivers and the colossal Arenal volcano. Keep your
eyes open for toucans, monkeys, sloths, butterflies and
different kinds of birds! (Duration 2 hours)

DANAUS ECOCENTER (1/2
day)
Your tour guide will pick you up and drive to the small
biological reserve, 15 minutes east of the town of La Fortuna,
is a model of
conservation. Once open farmland, this reserve has been allowed
to revert to forest
and now teems with wildlife. A main 1.5-hour trail winds through
the forest where
visitors can see a number of the 154 bird species recorded here,
including honeycreepers,
euphonias, tanagers & toucans. Several slow-moving sloths and
other
curious creatures live here too.
Highlights: Butterfly Garden with colorful species. Great
chances to see poison frogs,

Tabacon Hot Springs The impressive Arenal Volcano is a magnificent natural wonder situated in La Fortuna of San Carlos. To get to this natural wonder we must go to the northern part of the country, and inevitably make a stop at the famous town of Sarchi, which has earned the name Birthplace of Costa Rican Artisans. As we continue our trip we will drive through diverse plantations with agricultural products, ornamental plants and cattle ranches until we arrive to the town of La Fortuna. We´ll have lunch served in a cozy restaurant right in front of the volcano. This excellent location will allow us the best view in townLater we will visit the hot springs of the volcano, where you can relax in the soothing waters and be caressed by the cool night air while observing the stars and the incredible night sky above the volcano. At a convenient time, after you enjoy the hot springs, we will treat you to a splendid dinner. After dinner we will begin our return trip towards the city of San Jose.

Day 3 Full day rain forest adventure -Sarapiqui River (Braulio Carrillo Nat’l Park)
We will drive through the extraordinary rain forest of Braulio Carrillo National Park, one of the most important rainforest reserves in Costa Rica. Then we will take you on a relaxing boat ride on the Sarapiqui River, were you will just sit back and observe the wildlife around you. After this experience you will walk into Selva Verde’s eco lodge private trails, which are heaven for nature enthusiasts, hikers, bird and wildlife watchers. After a delicious lunch we will continue our trip to the famous Rainforest Aerial Tram, a sanctuary which shelters an eco- touristic and research park.

Day 4 Zip Lining
The park offers Costa Rica´s safest zip-line and effortlessly traverse the canopy and its hanging gardens under the supervision of experienced guides. The exhilarating canopy tour takes guests flying across the magnificent Moliente River several times. Walking trails lead visitors deep into the rainforest floor. Passengers will be strapped in safe top-quality gear specifically designed for this canopy tour. Bring: long pants, raincoat, comfortable shoes, extra clothing and camera.

Day 5 Full day river rafting Pacuare river with lunch
This is one of the most beautiful rafting destinations in Costa Rica! The Pacuare river travels through rural landscape and pristine forest reserves. Its class III-IV designation means plenty of gentle-to-exciting white water for advanced beginners and experienced rafters. Driving time from San José to the put in is about 3 1/2 hours. The tour includes transportation, rafting equipment and professionally-trained bilingual rafting guides. The time on river is approximately 5 hours. The minimum age is 12 years-old. (B)
Day 6 Full day Irazu Volcano, Orosi and Lancaster Garden
Head southeast of San José past Cartago and on up the fertile farmlands to the top of Irazú Volcano. This volcano devastated the local landscape with millions of tons of dark gray ash between 1963 and 1965, only to end up enriching the soil with its ash that created nutrient-rich sandy loam! Today the volcano sits quietly, although steam vents and small subterranean tremors indicate the volcano is dormant, not extinct. The landscape at the volcano’s 11,000 ft peak is composed of dark sand and hardy vegetation adapted to the high elevation’s rugged conditions. After Irazu, you will continue on to the lovely Lankester Gardens. Lankester is operated by the University of Costa Rica to preserve examples of its native orchids. Additionally, it offers visitors acres of cultivated grounds rich with tropical orchids, anthuriums bromeliads and ferns and the birds they all attract. Not only will you enjoy attractive botanical gardens, but you will help support the preservation of native orchids! Continue your journey through the beautiful Orosi Valley where you will see large coffee farms, the forest-clad Talamanca Mountains, the Basilica of Ujarras which are the remains of one of the oldest churches in Central America, the Cachi hydroelectric dam, and the centuries-old monastery of San José de Orosi. DAY 1: PRIVATE TRANSFER SAN JOSE AIRPORT-ARENAL
Arrive in San Jose where you will be met and private transfer to

DAY 5: TRANSFER ARENAL-GUANACASTE BEACHES
Private transfer to the Guanacate area and its beautiful
beaches. (Approximately 4 hour transfer).
On the northwest coast of Costa Rica, this nearly white beach
has the distinction of being composed of crushed sea shells. The
water just offshore drops off quickly and is very clear and good
for snorkeling. The region surrounding Conchal Beach is very
scenic being composed of many small bays and beaches backed by
low forested hills. The northwest region of Costa Rica has an
ideal beach climate with warm weather year round, and a long
sunny dry season between December and May when little, if any,
rain falls.
DAY 6-7 : BEACH

DAY 1: ARRIVE LIBERIA or SAN JOSE - TRANSFER
TO ARENAL VOLCANO
Arrive in LIberia or San Jose -where you will be met by your
private tour guide and transportation. Then,
continue through the tropical plantations and cattle ranches of
the northern central lowland plains before arriving at your
hotel in Arenal -about 3-4 hour drive. (see hotel selection
below)
DAY 2: FORTUNA WATERFALLS, ORGANIC FARM LUNCH AND HANGING
BRIDGES
This day start with a hike to the La Fortuna Waterfalls, a 200
foot-tall waterfall set in the pristine forested mountains of
Arenal National Park. The steep trail leads you down through
dense, lush rainforest with the objective of reaching a large
clear pool at the base of the falls. Do not forget your bathing
suit for the refreshing swim. After your hike back, tour an
organic farm and educational center managed by a rural family
and dedicated to preserving the traditional Costa Rican
lifestyle. Here you will have a lovingly prepared typical Costa
Rican lunch. When done, walk off your lunch with a short
afternoon at the Arenal Hanging Bridges for a fun and educative
way to learn more about the primary forest and the local
environment. The Arenal Hanging Bridges, is a complex of
suspension bridges and trails through beautiful rain forests. As
you walk you may encounter wildlife including toucans, poison
dart frogs, howling, spider and white-faced capuchin monkeys.

DAY 3: VOLCANO TOUR & TRANSFER TO MONTEVERDE
Hike the lava flow trail at the Arenal Volcano National Park.
The flow left an impressive pile of blocky lava rocks that rises
about 60 feet high and now offers a panoramic view of the
surrounding forests, mountains, nearby Lake Arenal and the
Arenal Volcano. As hunger for lunch sets in, you will be taken
to a local restaurant en route to Monteverde. The Monteverde
Cloud Forest is one of the worlds premiere destinations for
naturalists. Much of the resident wildlife is unique to these
habitats. In addition to forest hikes, visitors can enjoy many
other area attractions including horseback riding; dining in
numerous restaurants; live frog and butterfly exhibits; bird
watching; crafts and gift shopping; zip line tours and bridge
walks in forest canopies; a visit to a native orchid garden and
more. Overnight in Monteverde (see hotel selection below) (B)
DAY 4: ZIP LINE CANOPY TOUR
& MONTEVERDE CLOUD FOREST RESERVE
For some morning adrenaline, fly through the rainforest on a Zip
Line Canopy Tour. All the adventurous activities happen under
the expert watch and assistance of guides. Let the magical
opulence of the Costa Rican rain forests seep into your
consciousness while you travel from one zip-line to another.
This day lunch is not included so you may have the freedom of
choosing from any restaurant in the area.
In the early afternoon you will visit the
world-famous Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve.
Hike the reserve on well-groomed trails with your expert
naturalist guide. It is very possible to see the resplendent
Quetzal, which spends about half the year in Monteverde feeding
and breeding. As a prime example of cloud forest ecosystems,
Monteverde has been intensely studied by scientists and is the
site for pioneering research on the effects of climate change on
tropical ecosystems.

DAY 5: TRANSFER MONTEVERDE TO GUANACASTE BEACH
OR TO MANUEL ANTONIO
In the morning explore the principal community of the area,
Santa Elena, before being transferred to the beach. You may want
to take advantage of banks and supermarkets, visit the local
cheese factory, womens cooperative (CASEM) or one of the many
art and craft galleries to purchase some souvenirs or gifts for
the folks back home such as local coffee, wood sculptures,
embroidered clothing, and paintings by resident artists just to
name a few, then continue to Guanacaste area and to its
beautiful beaches for 3 nights (or you can continue to Manuel
Antonio National park, also with beautiful beaches)
DAY 6-7: BEACH TIME
Time to enjoy the beaches of Guanacaste (or Manuel Antonio) and relax at any of this great resorts. Optional tour available upon request. (B)

DAY 1 : ARRIVE SAN JOSE
Upon your arrival in San José, Costa Rica and after passing
through immigration you will be met by a member of the National
Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR) who will give you a sticker that
will facilitate our representative to identify you after exit
the Airport building.
As you exit the airport you will be met and transferred to your
hotel. Your driver will provide you with the travel vouchers for
your services and review them with you at this time.

DAY 3 : ARENAL - Visit the Arenal Hanging Bridges
Today you will have a tour of the Arenal Hanging Bridges. This
is a complex of suspension bridges and trails through beautiful
rain forest. The terrain undulates and the trail crosses ravines
with small waterfalls and travels over bridges with panoramic
vistas over the treetops including views of Arenal Volcano. As
you walk you may encounter wildlife including toucans, poison
dart frogs, howling monkeys, spider monkeys and white-faced
capuchin monkeys. The 1.5 mile trail is an easy walk for people
in good condition and loops back to the starting point.

DAY 4 : ARENAL- MONTEVERDE -Transfer, PM Sky Tram & Trek
Today you will be picked up at your hotel for a transfer from
the Arenal area to your Monteverde hotel, including a crossing
of Lake Arenal by boat. Initially you will be transferred to
Lake Arenal where you will board a boat to cross the southern
end of the lake. There you will be picked up at the Rio Chiquito
landing and driven overland to your Monteverde hotel, approx 2 ½
hour transfer. The lake crossing takes 1.5 hours less time than
driving all the way around. Please be aware that strong winds or
heavy rains can make for a rough, bumpy and wet boat ride. There
are no docks.
The Monteverde Sky Tram/Sky Trek combines a ski lift ride and a
zip line adventure in a cloud forest. The Sky Tram is a guided
ride with short stops to observe the wonders of the cloud
forest. The Sky Trek zips above the trees and give exhilarating
panoramic views. The tour begins with the Sky Tram bringing you
up the mountain on the Continental Divide, and then you glide
down on the Sky Trek zip lines.

Reserve
Enjoy a visit to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. In the
Puntarenas Province, the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is one
of the premier natural history destinations in Costa Rica. The
forest is dominated by trees densely covered with mats of small
plants known as epiphytes that include mosses, lichens, orchids,
ferns and bromeliads. This cool, very green and often misty
forest is home to a variety of wildlife. On your walk you may
encounter monkeys, coatimundis, agoutis and numerous bird
species such as Toucanets, Chlorophonias and seasonally the
Bellbird and legendary crimson and green Resplendent Quetzal.

Enjoy the Sky Tram and Sky Trek combination tour. The Sky Tram
is a 20 minute gondola ride up the mountain to a stop on an
observation platform where you can admire incredible views of

Volcano. The Sky Trek is a 3,280 foot long zip line system that
gives you an exhilarating ride back down the mountain through

its ash that created nutrient-rich sandy loam! Today the volcano
sits quietly, although steam vents and small subterranean
tremors indicate the volcano is dormant, not extinct. The
landscape at the volcano’s 11,000 ft peak is composed of dark
sand and hardy vegetation adapted to the high elevation’s rugged
conditions. After Irazu, you will continue on to the lovely
Lankester Gardens. Lankester is operated by the University of
Costa Rica to preserve examples of its native orchids.
Additionally, it offers visitors acres of cultivated grounds

CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK
Corcovado National Park is a
National Park on the Osa Peninsula in the South West of Costa
Rica, which is part of the Osa Conservation Area. It was
established on 24 October 1975, and encompasses an area of 425
km² (263 mi²). It is widely considered the crown jewel in the
extensive system of national parks and biological reserves
spread across the country. The ecological variety is quite
stunning. National Geographic has called it "the most
biologically intense place on Earth". Not only is the park very
popular with tropical ecologists, a visitor can expect to see an
abundance of wildlife.
The park protects various threatened plant and animal species,
and is known to have about 124 species of mammals (over 50
bats); 375 species of birds (perhaps 5-8 endemics); 117 species
of reptiles and amphibians (2 crocodilians, 4 sea turtles); 66
freshwater fish species; and 70 species of marine crabs. Among
the mammals are 4 monkey species (e.g. Central American squirrel
