DAY 1 ARRIVE MONTEVIDEO, CAPITAL OF URUGUAY

DAY 2 MONTEVIDEO -City tour (Private)
Mornign tour star with visit to the old city (Ciudad Vieja) with
many colonial buildings which nowadays house different companies,
banks, museums, antique shops and art galleries. Sarandí Street
leads us from the Puerta de la Ciudadela to the Plaza Matriz (Main
Square), officially called Plaza Constitución, where the Catedral de
Montevideo and the Cabildo are located. The tour continues visiting
the romantic Plaza Zabala and el Mercado Del Puerto (Port Market)
with its typical Parrilladas. Then visit the the new city (Ciudad
Nueva) which was planned with wide and tree lined streets, with
magnificent stores and residences. From the Teatro Solís (1856), we
can admire the Plaza Independencia in all its splendour... The main
avenue 18 de Julio, starts here. A few blocs away, we can find the
Plaza Fabini or "del Entrevero". We will also visit some of the many
green parks of the city from the Palacio Legislativo to the
residential area of El Prado, la Casa de Gobierno (The house of
Government), Parque Batlle, Estadio Centenario (Sports centre),
Monumento a la Carreta, Hospital de Clínicas and the residential
area of Carrasco. Return along the rambla costanera, with more than
20 Km. of white sandy beaches. (B)
DAY 3 MONTEVIDEO - Full day excursion to Punta del Este

Punta del Este is a city and resort on the Atlantic Coast in the
Maldonado Department of southeastern Uruguay.
In the morning you will be picked up by your private guide and drive
for 2 hours to finally reach Punta del Este. You’ll enjoy a tour of
this popular South American beach resort city, visiting all main
points of interest in old and new Punta Del Este. In this tour you
will be visiting Casa Pueblo art museum and their amazing views from
this site. Then Portezuelo, ocean side coastal road, San Rafael
neighborhood, La Barra unique bridge, town of La Barra, place where
river meets the ocean and our monument of hand with fingers at the

ITINERARY:
DAY 1 ARRIVE MONTEVIDEO -COLONIA
Arrive in Montevideo "Capital of Uruguay" and one of the most
popular cities in South America. Transfer by private car to the
beautiful colonial town of COLONIA.
DAY 2 COLONIA DEL SACRAMENTO –City tour
Morning walk on to the city’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site
since 1995. The walk will take
you around the Old District of Colonia (known as Colonia del
Sacramento), founded in 1680 by the Portuguese. The walkstarts at
the old city gates, and continues toward the “Street of Sighs” in
which we will visit a charming place known as “El Buen Suspiro” (the
“good sigh”) built by the Portuguese and which dates back to 1720.
You’ll be able to sample local wines, cheese and home made desserts.
We’ll stop at the Main Square, then the ruins of the San Francisco
Church (the oldest ruins in Uruguay), the Lighthouse, Governor’s
House, the Sacramento Basilica and other attractive sites.

Uruguay. Half a day tour
You will be visiting a select winery – family owned businesses - and
spend an unforgettable time enjoying the unique atmosphere of this
establishments. Homeowner will welcome you to their property with
their typical warmth, appreciating your visit to share a piece of
their daily work and see (and taste!) the fruits of their labor. You
will tour the vineyard; learn of their history and of the winemaking
process. Wine tasting will include the Tannat, the emblematic grape
of Uruguay that is very well regarded in regional and international
contests, as an even better quality grape than its French
counterpart.

DAY 6 MONTEVIDEO/PUNTA DEL ESTE & tour of the area
Leave Montevideo and drive through the residential areas before
entering the highway driving 85 miles to Punta del Este one of the
finest resorts in South America; a gateway for the jet set. Make a
brief stop at Portezuelo and Punta Ballena for picturesque views.
Enjoy the sophisticated architecture followed by a visit to a
private Fundación Ralli museum housing Latin American art including
works by Salvador Dali. A special visit and lunch at Casapueblo
built in 1958 and home of famous artist Carlos Páez Vilaró. The
dazzling white complex, resembling Spanish-Moroccan architecture is
situated on a rocky bluff overlooking the ocean. Next, we will visit
La Barra and its unique undulated bridges..

DAY 4 MONTEVIDEO-COLONIA
Transfer to the bus station for a bus ride to the historical city of
Colonia. Arrive and transfer to hotel Plaza Mayor or Posada Virrey
in the historical section . Afternoon sightseeing walk tour of
Colonia del Sacremento one of Uruguay's oldest European settlements,
was founded by the Portuguese in 1680 (Nova Colonia do Santissimo
Sacramento) . Located in between the Portuguese colony of Brazil and
the Spanish Vice Royalty of the River Plate (later Argentina,
Uruguay and Southern Brazil). Its strategic position and use as a
smuggling port meant that its sovereignty was hotly contested and
the city changed hands several times between Spain and Portugal in
the 16-18th century. The city tour will take you through its
historic quarter with cobbled stone streets and special colonial
architecture. Colonia has been declared as a Unesco a World Heritage
Site.

Morning transfer to the port of Colonial to cross the La Plata river
for Buenos Aires via The Buquebus service -which runs 2-3 times per

Buenos Aires port and private transfer to HOTEL LOI SUITE RECOLETA
